Blizzard Umbrella #21 : Tomb First Impressions, Peanut Butter on the Moon, and the Necromancer!!
This week Blizzard Umbrella is back for the twenty first recording. The guys have both been extremely busy on the show, off the show, in game, and out of game. This week the guys are excited to talk about a lot of the news coming out of the Blizzard camp. The Tomb of Sargeras hits live servers, there is floating peanut butter on the Moon in Overwatch, and the Necromancer cost and drop date is finally announced. The website is up and running and you can find it at www.theblizzardumbrella.com to find out about the show and what they have been up to.
What We’ve Been Up to:
This past week Ryan and his guild, along with the majority of the WoW community have been in the Tomb of Sargeras and slaying some bosses. This in turn has meant that a lot of Ryan’s game focus has been geared towards the new raid and the guild. Outside of that school, a little bit of Overwatch, and some Heroes of the Storm have been in the playlist.
Dusty as well got to jump into Tomb and see some of the first few bosses. Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm also saw some game time from Dusty. The cross promotional events for Dusty are a big enjoyment. For Hearthstone, Dusty has been doing his typical 4-5 games a day trying to climb the rankings ladder.
Tomb of Sargeras First Impressions:
Dusty was the first of the duo to be able to jump into Tomb and feels like the new raid is both aesthetically and mechanically super cool. Whilst Dusty was only able to have enough time for the first few bosses, he did really enjoy what he was able to see and do. Dusty also felt it prudent to rub it in to Ryan that he was able to jump in first. This experience for Dusty was a good eye opener of how fun being in a raid with progression being the emphasis, even on normal difficulty, is very fun. Ryan added to this sentiment that on multiple occasions when he and his guild have been able to drag people through a raid and with an organized group has been enough to convince them that an organized progression raid can be more fun than it seems. As Ryan’s guild at the time of the show recording was only a few bosses short of clearing it on normal difficulty, he expresses his approval of the new raid. He does wonder how he will feel a month or more in but for the time being the raid is fresh, a lot of fun, and very aesthetically pleasing. The guys also talk on the fact that this raid could very well be the beginning of the end for the struggle that the WoW community has been battling against for over a decade. To finish out the guys take a moment to discuss the possible future past Argus which comes after Tomb. What can we expect with Argus and beyond?!
Necromancer Release Date and Cost:
As the Necromancer makes its’ debut to the live servers at a cost of $15, there is a lot of excitement around this news. The release date will be June 27th with Rise of the Necromancer. You can purchase this with a WoW token. Along with the Necromancer, players who make this purchase will get an assortment of other in game Necromancer themed items. With the Necromancer drop, new maps and questing will come to the game, providing players even more to do than there currently is. Both Ryan and Dusty are excited to get in there with season 11 and experience the new content with the rest of the Diablo community.
Peanut Butter on the Moon:
Neither one of the guys have been able to play the new Lunar Colony map in an actual game but before the show the guys were able to fire up a custom arcade game with some AI and explore the new map. Both guys laughed and found it hilarious that as you venture outside into the low gravity area, there is in fact jars of peanut butter floating around. The rest of the map felt very fleshed out to the guys and really showcased the Overwatch teams’ ability to put together and deliver a very dynamic and detail oriented map that on top of all that really plays into the story of specific characters. Ryan wonders how much is the map designed with the intent to play into the design of both Winston and Hammond if he is indeed the new heroe coming to the lineup. Overwatch also announced that moving forward in the very near future some loot box changes will bring about the reduction of duplicate chances for items.
Hearthstone Loot Changes:
Ben Brode recently released a video announcing some news that there will be some changes made to the way card packs work in Hearthstone which also reflects some changes with loot in Overwatch. This news established the fact that Legendary cards will no longer have a chance to be duplicated after they are first received which will make playing Hearthstone much more affordable and easier to get into. Both Dusty and Ryan expressed their joy at this fact.
